"Though fertile soil and plastic products--which are combined in the installations that I call 'Little Red Greenhouses'--present themselves to the contemporary mind as residents of opposing categories, artists have long constructed works that are built on the unification of opposites. The groupings in my installations reveal an extreme manifestation of that oppositional tendency and evidence the tension that results, replacing the blue dome of the sky with a cube of red light, and hanging stones and beads in lieu of sun and stars over samples of the green growth that keep our planet a vital and living place. What we see, then, is an experiment in both nature and artificiality, just as technological civilization javascript:void(0)is itself an experiment in both nature and artificiality. Can these plants survive in such an environment? It will depend most, perhaps, on the moment of viewing."Sally Yap, 2008
